The first step in decorating a bathroom is determining what type of bathroom will be decorated. There are different types of bathrooms such as the master’s bathroom, the kids’ bathroom, teens’ bathroom and the guest bathroom. For a master’s bathroom, the motif of the design should suit you since this is where you start and end your day. Some experts suggest that the decoration should make a statement – that is, a fashion statement that speaks well of you. So, the first consideration is decoration that promotes relaxation and rejuvenation for someone tired and weary from a day’s work. Bathroom colors should be light and this rule applies to the tiles.

A secondary consideration is to make the bathroom look or appear as large with the use of visuals. This may seem hard to do but the proper and wise placement of mirrors can accentuate a bathroom’s actual interior size. A kids’ bathroom (if there is one that is separate) can be decorated with seascapes or ocean scenes such as giant waves, fishes and seashells. For the guest bathroom, it is recommended that yellow or gold in combination with black be used to give an appearance of luxury.
